What's it all about?

the Living Word reflected in the Living Water
The purpose of this blog is to share neat Bible verses I've run across and that mean something to me. Each post will focus on a specific verse and include a description of what I think the verse means. I will share how I've seen the verse applied in my life, thoughts, or the lives of others. My posts will also include creative ways to share scripture with you friends and family. Hopefully you will gain knowledge and insight on different verses as well as be encouraged to share verses with others!

These are two websites I've found very helpful while studying the Bible:

1) Bible Gateway: This website lets you search verses, passages, or key words and will pull results from all over the Bible in Biblical order. You can read verses in any translation, get reading plans and devotionals, and listen to the Bible due to the audio option.

2) Open Bible (Topical Feature): This website feature enables you to search any word and pulls up verses in order of popularity and relevance. Whether you need a verse to encourage yourself or a friend, this is a quick, easy, and helpful tool to help you in you search.

  1. Nice post, your picture is relevant, and the link descriptions of what the sites are about are a great added touch, rather than just a link

  3. One I'm going to enjoy this I have been a christian my whole life.
Lol you wont believe this but I'm post it anyways...

Mythology and christianity are very similar. Both speak of Titans, Tartarus(This is where some ""Titans" are trapped, Hades(Hades is the place where hell is (this is in Apocalypse)).

I'll start with Titans sons of humans and angels.
God destroyed the Titans with with flood.

    Genesis
6 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Who are the sons of God?.. They are Angels

Job 1:6 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

Satan came along which means he was one of the sons of God an angel and now this was not before when Satan was good.

    1. TechMan, I did some research on your comment because it is different from what I've been taught in the past and came to a different conclusion then you. Here's what I came up with:
Based on my reading and keywords searches on OpenBible and BibleGateway, Titans are never mentioned in the Bible. In fact, I don't think Titans align with the Bible. Titans are supposed to be sons of humans and angels but angels are spiritual beings based on Biblical examples such as no need to eat (Judges 13:15-16) and no marriage (Matthew 22:30). (However, angels can appear to us in physical form such as the ones at JC's tomb.) If humans are physical and angels aren't, biology 101 seems to rule out the possibility of kids.
As for angels being the sons of God, I agree that they are, but the Bible calls humans son of God too. In fact, Romans 8:14 says, "For all who are led by the spirit of God, are sons of God." We can be led by the spirit of God, making us sons of God. Fallen angels, however, aren't led by the spirit of God so I'm not sure if they would be called God's sons. Also, we are predestined for adoption as son of God. (Ephesians 1:5) I believe that, like us, angels are adopted into God's family if they follow Him. We can safely come to that conclusion because John 3:16 tells us the Jesus is God's "one and only son." If Jesus is Gods only son than it can only make sense for the rest of his "sons" to be adopted so that the terms "sons of God" refers to a multitude of beings. Also, "Mighty Men" weren't wiped out with the flood. 2 Samuel 23:8-38 is devoted to telling about 37 different mighty men during King David's reign which was long after the flood. I don't think Tartars is in the Bible either but you are correct in saying that Hades is. My youth pastor says that when God communicates with us He often breaks things down to a level that we can understand in our current state of growth. God sometimes used mythological references because that's what the people knew at that point just like Jesus told parables to relate teachings to everyday life. So, most likely, the mention of Hades was to help the people understand what Hell is.

  5. Yes Hades was a description of hell and yes giants in the bible are parallel to titans in mythology, simple way of saying demons were once angels. The nephilim in the bible were a mix of angels and humans. I could go on an on I have studied this long ago it is beginning to be caught on by preachers although some stick to their belief systems and don't actually try to study the harder parts of the bible. And I had read all of apocalypse years ago and it does mention tarturus. God put some of them there and will release them after the rapture. Did you know teleportation is real in the bible? Philip teleported. Acts 8:39-40 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

  6. I think I need to hear a verbal explanation about this because it still isn't making sense to me right now...
